Sir, - Liam Ryan suggests, (November 11th) that, in order to alleviate morning rush-hour traffic, schools should start one hour earlier, at 8 a.m. Might I suggest that adult commuters are more suited to an early morning start than small children?
Furthermore, the case for using private cars (second or other) for transporting children to schools which are frequently not on bus routes is surely far stronger than that for the use of private cars by typical adult commuters travelling to the city centre on bus routes. - Yours, etc.,
Eileen McGovern, Foxrock Manor, Dublin 18.
