Madam, - It was with great dismay I read of the proposed helicopter pad beside Massey's Woods in Rathfarnham.
These woods are a rich botanic garden containing a variety of unusual and mature trees in an idyllic riverside setting, though marred at times by ruthless motorbike scramblers, illegally dumped rubbish and carelessly started fires.
Despite such blights the woods are a unique resource for locals and city-dwellers. Coillte and the other powers-that-be should value them more highly. Already the tranquillity is frequently shattered by revving motorbike engines and the sound of helicopter blades circling the woods. A landing-pad in an adjoining field would just be further damage. - Yours, etc,
