Sir, - If the sale of duty-free good for journeys within the European Union's single market is an anomaly that must be removed, then surely the same logic has to apply to the departure/airport taxes that seem to be creeping inexorably higher every year.
I wouldn't mind losing the couple of pounds saved on cigarettes and alcohol if I didn't have to pay these ridiculous taxes that make a mockery of the concept of free movement of people within the EU. - Yours, etc., Ronan Kavanagh,
