Sir, - The supplement on the Eastern Health Board (October 29th) made interesting reading, very much in keeping with the times - i.e. very up-market, as it should be. It is important at this time that we remember the many members of EHB staff and board, some now retired or passed on, who gave a lifetime of dedicated service. Some worked in very poor facilities, were poorly paid, and retired on equally poor pensions or none at all. They had no fancy titles, but they laid the foundation stones of this large agency. The language of 1998 may not have been used by them, but their dedication in many cases was unquantifiable, and their mission statement equally profound though not recorded. Rome was not built in a day. - Yours, etc.,Alice Leahy,Director,TRUST,Bride Road,Dublin 8.
