Sir, - Frank Mulcahy (August 21st) highlighted the absence of funding for the education of people with disability. A young person with disability or serious illness is unable to undertake a full-time, third-level course, but is able to do a part-time third-level course if funding is available. Is it not ironic that there is non-means-tested funding for all full-time courses but no funding whatsoever for part-time ones? In middle-class families the necessary funding can be afforded; but what of those in poor families? - Yours, etc., Margaret O'Neill, Whitechurch Hill,
Dublin 16.
