Madam, – Age Action views as worrying the proposed removal of budgetary support from seven rural evening transport services under the Rural Transport Programme.

Older people in rural areas should be entitled to a level of service that would allow them to participate fully in the social life of their community and access basic services and amenities. The continuing failure to provide a proper public transport service in rural areas is causing many older people to become isolated and excluded from society. – Yours, etc,
