Sir, - So Rory O'Toole of Naas has started a fan club for me (July 20th), with one member already on the books, Aoibhlinn Hester of Kilkenny (July 25th). This is indeed excellent news (long overdue, may I add), and Ms Hester, especially, earns my admiration not only for her impressive knowledge of Northside geography but also for giving us an insight into her fertile imagination.
Mr O'Toole, as the instigator of all this, deserves to have his curiosity satisfied. Therefore, I feel it incumbent on me to answer, to the best of my ability, the few queries put by him:
Who am I? Good question. I have spent the last 50 years trying to figure this one out, and I still have no idea.
How have I become knowledgeable on an range of issues? Easy one, this. Since the age of two, I have read The Irish Times, on a daily basis, from cover to cover.
What must one do to reserve a place on the letters page? You've got me here again, I'm afraid. Sure, if I knew the answer, wouldn't I be able to get all my letters published? - Yours, etc.,
D.K. Henderson, Castle Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin 3.
