Sir, – The Equality Streets proposal (Home News, November 25th) whereby traffic lights will be suspended in Kilkenny on a trial basis is to be welcomed. The most efficient means of dealing with traffic at junctions (where space permits) is a roundabout.
In this past year, the “traffic experts” in DLRCC replaced the roundabout at Mounttown Farm in Dún Laoghaire with traffic lights. Since then, the long-suffering motorists in the area have endured traffic queues of a length and duration that did not previously exist, thus providing proof of Martin Cassini’s (Equality Street) theory and also of the old saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”. – Yours, etc,
