Sir, – The “Eurozone Debt Web” at www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15748696 shows foreign debt per person.
Ireland has the highest foreign debt per person at €390,969. Monopoly money. Compare with Greece where foreign debt per person is €37,073. Oh to be Greek! Our nearest neighbour, the UK, is also our nearest neighbour in foreign debt, at €117,580 per person. This Debt Web shows us why Ireland cannot possibly leave the euro zone. Politicians choose not to explain it like that: it’s way too scary.
