Why can’t they just declare a Protestant euro, a Catholic euro, and have done with it? But the one thing we can be assured of is that the eurologians will soon clash over Orthodoxy. – Yours, etc,

A chara, – The irony of Fianna Fáil accusing the Government of scaremongering over any referendum on last week’s austerity compact, is breathtaking (Front page, December 15th). As someone who campaigned for a No vote in both Lisbon referendums, I recall Fianna Fáil’s rather simplistic Yes campaigning being distilled into the following: “Yes for the economy” and “Yes for jobs”.
