Farmers and hill-walkers
Madam, - As a regular hillwalker, I have never come across an access problem. The few times over the years I have met farmers on their land, they have been courteous and helpful. I have no intention of walking anywhere there may be access problems, as there is more than enough mountain space available.
I have hiked in the four provinces so far this year and had fantastic days out. As a member of a hiking club and the Mountaineering Club of Ireland, I would like to think I voice the views of most of my fellow hikers. Trespass and confrontation will get us nowhere. People are entitled to their private property and privacy just as I am. - Yours, etc,
ENA RAFFERTY, Oak Court Park, Palmerstown, Dublin 20.
