Madam, - Tom Dunne of the IFA states in his letter of May 5th that "farmers are committed to playing their part in improving water quality".
The residents of Carlow town have had to boil drinking water for the past month, and are likely to have to do so for another month at least. Searches by Carlow County Council have found a total of 40 dead sheep in the river Burren, the source of Carlow's water supply.
I imagine these sheep were once the property of farmers - the ones slightly less committed to improving water quality. - Yours, etc,
FRANK NEENAN, Tullow Road, Carlow
