Madam, - Ronan Keane (October 15th) implies that fee-paying schools provide better education than free schools. This may be his experience, but it is not universal.
One of our children attended a fee-paying school while a second currently attends a free school. In almost every aspect of education, from the purely academic to the broader social development, we have found the free school to be far superior to the fee-paying school.
It is reassuring to know that there are still some things that money can't buy. - Yours, etc,
MICHAEL HOLLAND, Kerrymount Rise, Foxrock, Dublin 18.
