Madam, - Luke Murphy (May 25th) ends his letter by making the facile statement that "there is no such thing as the right to not be offended." This is reference to the justifiable offence that any fair-minded human being would take at the Pope's opinions on homosexuality.
He also rightly asserts that it is not a crime to hold such opinions. But it is a crime to cause incitement to hatred; and how the very publicly stated opinions of the Pope on this topic could be construed in any other way is a mystery. - Yours, etc,
