Sir, - Will someone please remove from our collective backs those would-be eco-warriors who inhabit the Glen of the Downs. I live within two miles of it and frequently use the road which needs to be upgraded.
Those who are protesting should consider the following:
Wild life will be driven out of the immediate area by their presence.
The road which is to be improved has been the cause of many deaths and serious injuries.
Current traffic restrictions which slow cars cause more pollutants to be deposited in the area than otherwise.
It has been established in Scandinavia that an old forest recycles less carbon dioxide to oxygen than one which is in its youth and growing vigorously.
What is being protected by the protesters in the Glen of the Downs? - Yours, etc.,
