Madam, - So the State-owned Great Southern Hotels may have to close.
And St Patrick's Institution for vulnerable young offenders should be closed (The Irish Times, April 14th).
Why not convert one of these hotels into a state-of-the-art rehabilitation centre to replace St Patrick's - and, while the State is at it, relieve hospitals of those elderly patients currently residing in wards by creating nursing homes in some of the other hotels?
