Sir, - At 4 am on the Saturday morning of last weekend's big match, I was driving with two companions through Dublin, completely lost, when amazingly a taxi-driver stopped, asked if he could help, and kindly gave us directions to where we wanted to go. We tried to follow his directions, but became rather disorientated. Eventually, we were overtaken by another car with hazard lights flashing. The car stopped and a lady came over to us to ask if we were lost. She tried to give us directions, but, realising they were rather complex, turned around and guided us to our guest house. She would not even accept a little financial "thank you", but with persuasion accepted one of my company's pens.
I cannot speak highly enough of the Irish kindness which we were showed throughout our weekend. What a wonderful world it would be if we could all follow such examples. - Yours, etc.,
John Coward, Shrewsbury, England.
