Madam, - For Mary Harney to suggest that the elderly could become a burden on the State is quite insensitive, particularly since she is referring to people who are lifelong taxpayers.
The taxes of those so-called burdens have been squandered on Government jets and helicopters to fly Ministers to open pubs and off-licences, and on paying the wages of a bloated Health Service administrative staff rather than on patient care.- Yours, etc.,
