Madam, - In an understandable, though inadequate, attempt to ensure a level playing pitch in the high-stakes Leaving Certificate, the State Examinations Commission (SEC) has put regulations in place that militate against home-educated students (Breda O'Brien, Opinion Analysis, April 26th).
Where does this leave the far larger numbers of examination candidates who prepare their coursework at unrecognised grind schools?
The SEC can hardly expect these for-profit institutions to
aspire towards equality of opportunity! - Yours, etc,
