Sir, - I am sorry to have annoyed C. O'Connell of Baldoyle (November 2nd)by my letter of October 27th. Unfortunately, he or she has put an intrepretation on it which does not coincide with reality.
First of all, I suffered from no complaint, nor did I notice anyone waiting in the emergency department with a life-threatening complaint. I was merely accompanying my sister-in-law, who had a letter from her GP as recommended by C. O'Connell.
We had had no evening meal, and as my sister-in-law is 78 and I am 80, five hours of waiting while fasting is a bit too much for us, as C. O'Connell of Baldoyle may discover in time. - Yours, etc., Hugo Duffy,
Furry Park Road, Killester, Dublin 5.
