Madam, - It's good to see Finola Meredith exposing the pernicious practice of selling gollies ( The Irish Times, January 23rd). I had a much-loved golly as a child, but now realise the error of my ways.
Similarly, I think we should ban The Simpsons for its
yellow-skinned stereotyping, Barbie dolls for their incitement to
anorexia, and garden gnomes, which are insulting to people of a
