Sir, - I lived in England for 10 years and returned to Ireland two years ago. As a result I have friends in England whom I invite to visit this country. We have had many visitors over the past two years and they have taken good reports back with them after their trips, encouraging other friends to visit.
Last week a good friend of mine who was born in Southampton and has lived there all his life came to visit me here in Dublin. Of the 45 or so passengers on the flight he was the only one stopped by immigration officials and asked for identification.
The reason? He was the only one who was black. Do any of your other readers have examples of such blatant racism? - Yours, etc.,
