Sir, - Gerry Adams claims that for unionists decommissioning is only a pretext: if the IRA were to decommission, some other obstacle would be put in the way of Sinn Fein's joining the Executive. But why should this belief be an argument against decommissioning? Surely the republican strategy should now be to start decommissioning. If the unionists do then behave as Sinn Fein thinks, their duplicity will be exposed for all to see. - Yours, etc.,
