Sir, - I welcomed our President's attendance at the recent ceremony in Mesen. Indeed, we should commemorate those unfortunate Irishmen who had their precious lives wasted while pursuing the imperialist designs of the privileged. Perhaps her Britannic Majesty, if she does visit these shores, might reciprocate and deign to commemorate those Irishmen and Irishwomen who gave their precious lives so that we might never again be obliged to assist imperialism in its never-ending desire to dominate the world. - Yours, etc. John Kane,
Ballycar Road,
Newmarket-on-Fergus,
Co Clare.
