In the picture

Sir, – I look forward each Saturday to a photograph from the archives in your "The Times We Lived In" feature. It can bring a smile, sometimes wry, or a wistful thought for more more innocent or austere times gone by.

However, with “Folly that – painterly artist wins plaudits for snapper” (February 7th), Arminta Wallace surpassed herself. Brenda Fitzsimons’s prize-winning study of the painter Camille Souter was brilliantly matched with the eloquence of the writer. A fabulous study, both in picture and words. Well done to the three artists involved. – Yours, etc,

JACKIE BYRNE,
