Sir, - I refer to the article "Industry reluctant to locate in Donegal (The Irish Times, August 17th).
If I leave west Donegal at 5 a.m. and drive to Dublin I can reach Glasnevin by 8.30 a.m. If I leave Dublin in the afternoon I can be back in downtown Dungloe in five hours. The main difference between the times taken for the journey is not the increase in traffic, but the bottlenecks. Ashbourne, Slane and Ardee can each add 20 minutes to the journey of late and you can always bet on a set of temporary traffic lights operated by some dozy road-workers to add on the minutes somewhere along the way.
Or I can leave Glasnevin at noon, drive to Dublin Airport and fly to Donegal with Aer Arainn. This allows me to drink my lunchtime soup in Dungloe at 1.30 p.m., thanks to our new Airport in Carrickfinn.
Jump on a plane, Ms Harney, and come and meet us for lunch. I recommend the chowder. - Is mise, Caoimhin O Marcaigh,
An Mhin Mhor,
Dungloe.
