A chara, - Isn't it rather strange that a march to the Dail of nearly 2,000 people dressed up, carrying banners, dancing to a Samba band, whistling, singing, and demanding that Irish wealth be shared, gets barely any coverage from the media?
I know the growing gap between rich and poor in Ireland, the increasing poverty, and long-term unemployment are not sexy issues (for some reason the farmers are - I haven't worked that one out yet); but surely, when people came from all over the country on Thursday to call on the Government to implement its P2000 to share the wealth, this deserved some coverage. The event had great TV potential and was a wonderful photo opportunity. Newspaper photographers, RTE and TV3 were there - for an-hour-and-a-half. Just who decides we are not worth the biscuit? - Yours, etc., Barrie McClatchie,

Regrettably, pressure of space on particularly busy days does not always allow for coverage of every worthwhile event. In general, The Irish Times has always tried to give fair coverage to INOU statements and events. - Ed., IT.
