KEN PORTER,
Madam, - P. Cremin suggests (January 23rd) that the Spire should be called "An Lár", since that seems to be the destination on the front of so many Dublin buses. By the same reasoning, I suggest we christen it: "As Seirbhís". - Yours, etc.,
A. DEACON, Parson Court, Maynooth, Co Kildare.

Madam, - May I suggest that our thin new Spire should be called "Anna Rexia"? - Yours, etc.,

Madam, - I try to be a respectable citizen: I pay my taxes, vote in elections, do not annoy children. I am not a member of the IRA or NATO, but I am a member of An Taisce, and a tree-hugger.
Imagine my surprise, then, on reading in your Editorial of January 22nd that I "disgraced" myself on O'Connell Bridge in 1966! Madam, I did not disgrace myself; I justifiably expressed my joy at the sudden removal of a symbol of undemocratic, world-wide imperialism from our capital city. - Yours, etc.,
GILLIAN RYAN, Mespil Estate, Dublin 4.
