Sir, - I am a single man in my late twenties who drives a saloon car in the Dublin area. I currently pay over £1,000 a year in motor insurance and £352 a year in motor tax.
Would it not be a better idea if I paid a lot less insurance and a lot more tax? The improvement in our roads that the extra funding could provide would surely reduce road traffic accidents, allowing companies like Hibernian to make their extraordinary profits from lower payouts rather than the ridiculously high premiums they charge people like me.
