Madam, – Bishop Willie Walsh (Weekend Review, November 6th) thinks that future studies may show that there were (proportionately) no more abusers among priests than among laypeople. Surely those future studies will show that there were proportionately less laypeople who felt bound to shield abusers and to leave vulnerable children to their ministrations? – Yours, etc,
