Madam, - I was disappointed to discover that there are no ethical criteria used in deciding where the National Pension Reserve Fund is invested. Is this acceptable in a neutral country?

I object to national funds being available for investment in, for example, the arms industry. Our small country has a proud record in seeking to promote justice and peace in many parts of our troubled world. I do not think the majority of Irish people would happily see their pensions grow by adding to the risk of war.

I believe there should be public debate and political accountability on the consequences of the investments of national funds. - Yours, etc.,
