Ireland Of The Litter

Sir, - How can Ireland hope to solve its litter problems when adults in all age groups set such a bad example?

I have witnessed them leaving a cinema or bingo hall leaving their rubbish all over the floor.

Surely, if it's possible to carry full drink cans and popcorn cartons into the premises it is possible to carry out the empties and leave them in the litter bins provided.

If the parents of today's adults had taught them not to leave litter while teaching them proper table manners, today's children would have followed the pattern.

So come on Mums, set the trend. - Yours, etc.,
