Madam, - A report in your edition of September 22nd, "Egypt criticises EU for nuclear vote stance", overlooked the fact that Ireland has not been at any point a subject of any sort of criticism from the Egyptian government, bearing in mind Ireland's positive vote on the "Egyptian Draft resolution".
The just and courageous position taken by the Government of Ireland was highly appreciated by the Egyptian government, as well as by the various Egyptian political, economical and cultural institutions.
This stance reflects Ireland's firm and impartial commitment to
the global principles of peace, arms control and disarmament, which
Ireland and Egypt share and uphold. - Yours, etc,
AMR HELMY,
Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt,
Ballsbridge,
Dublin 4.
