Sir, - The proposed football match by Ireland against Yugoslavia must be cancelled. While we can and do argue over many subjects, fascism, ethnic cleansing and mass murder are not debatable. It is a fact that, win or lose the game, the dictator Milosevic will use the event in his continuing propaganda of deceit towards the people of Yugoslavia.
The Government too must play a role in this matter. Condemning the appalling misery that we daily witness on our television screens is not enough. A tough stand against the Yugoslav team is the best answer to those who would attempt to come upon our shores to represent a fascist dictator.
The Taoiseach and his Cabinet must declare that there will be no cead mile failte, that the team will not be allowed in while ethnic cleansing persists. This message should also be conveyed to that spineless organisation, UEFA. - Yours, etc. Cllr Eamonn O'Brien,
Ballymun, Dublin 11.
