Sir, - At the recent prison officers' conference in Kilkenny, the Minister of Justice, Mr O'Donoghue, highlighted the dangers of some prison officers continually working over 70 hours a week. He said it was a risk to their personal health and doubtless to their inmates under their care. It would be useful if Mr O'Donoghue could pass these words of wisdom on to the Minister of Health, Mr Martin. Most junior doctors work over 70 hours a week, every week, yet the Government fails to show any concern for their health or the health of their patients. - Yours, etc.,
Peter Beddy, Trinity College, Dublin 2.
