Madam, – With Kilkenny in the All-Ireland Hurling Final for the fifth year in a row, the scramble for tickets for the final nears an end.

You have to be either a member of a hurling club across the 32 counties or use one of the “tout” websites with minimum prices starting at €300 for a seat, to be able to get your hands on a ticket.

My father and I who are not members of a club have been to every Kilkenny match in the championship this year and over previous years and yet we struggle to procure a ticket for the final, if at all.

A simple scheme of allowing supporters with ticket stubs from previous matches to purchase a ticket for the final from the GAA ticket office would bring an element of justice to the ticket allocation programme and might also increase attendance at earlier matches in the season, bringing in more revenue for the GAA and increased support for the players. – Yours, etc,
