Madam, - May I appeal to parents to reprimand their children who deliberately run after and kick pigeons and other birds? I have witnessed this cruel pastime many times in parks, on beaches and in the city centre.
Dublin's pigeons have enough to contend with without being chased by ill-mannered children doing their best to kick and hurt them. The amazing thing is that some parents get defensive when I point out the problem.
These harmless wild birds deserve protection and I would ask your readers to speak up for them when they see this cruelty taking place. - Yours, etc,
