A chara, – It would seem that the sceptical musings of Liam Meehan (October 28th) have long since been addressed. Scripture tells us the Son of Man “must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation” (Luke 17:25).
That a historical figure named Jesus walked the Earth thousands of years ago, there is absolutely no question whatsoever. After that, it boils down to whether one believes in his divinity and his rising from the dead or not – a big ask for anybody – believer or non-believer.
Regarding the comments of Archbisop of Tuam Dr Michael Neary’s, he should be commended for taking such a level-headed, sensible view of the matter. After all, such events (“apparitions”) have nothing to do with the shaping of one’s faith on a personal level, one way or another. – Is mise,
