Madam, - I have had the good fortune to encounter many of the leading men and women who have helped shape our society, fashion our ideals and contribute in material ways to the betterment of our world. Among that splendid company of generous givers Gordon Lambert was pre-eminent. His passing leaves all of us the poorer. We can no longer share his infectious and exuberant enthusiasms, no longer bask in the affectionate warmth of his friendship.
All the more reason, then, to seize the sad occasion of his passing to mark in an appropriate way his greatest gift to the nation by mounting a comprehensive exhibition of his magnificent bequest to the Irish Museum of Modern Art. I know he always intended to share his own life's work and passion with the widest possible public. A proper and prompt exhibition of the collection would be a fitting and characteristically inclusive memorial to Gordon Lambert. - Yours, etc.,
BRIAN FARRELL,
