Sir, - The new Northern Ireland Agreement will usher in legislation, especially in the North, for the promotion and increased use of the Irish language. Although not fluent in Irish I have no objection to these developments. However as a regular Irish Times reader I do find it annoying when the two languages are confused as if we were all bilingual already!
For instance, the paper of June 3rd headlined the Irish language column in English, with a title that made me want to read more - but I couldn't because the rest of the column was in Irish. Isn't there considerable confusion here? Let's have a clear, consistent policy that doesn't frustrate or disadvantage readers and tell readers what that policy is. - Yours, etc., Tony Axon,
