Sir, - The Leopardstown Road roundabout is an accident waiting to happen. Every evening, traffic converges on the roundabout from the Sandyford Industrial Estate, the Lamb Doyles Road and the South County Business Park. There is no break in the traffic 5p.m. to 6 p.m. on any weekday and drivers entering the roundabout take their lives, and the law, into their own hands. They launch into the oncoming traffic, in the hope that other drivers are paying attention and will not run into them. I have not seen anyone hit yet, but it is a matter of time. What solution? A guard on point duty for an hour a day, five days a week, would make a huge difference. Traffic lights on the roundabout are successful at other busy junctions; this is also an option. Let me urge Dun LaoghaireRathdown County Council to do something now, rather than waiting until someone is hurt or killed. - Yours, etc.,Ciaran Clissmann,Springhill Avenue,Blackrock,Co Dublin.
