Sir, - How quickly we forget! Does anybody remember a certain Dr Martin O'Donoghue? Back at the tail-end of the 1970s he and his think-tank told us: "We were never better off!", and assured us there would be nil unemployment.
The voters were delighted and gave his government a 20-seat majority. Well, we all know the outcome.
Now we have Champagne Charlie. He laughingly tells us that everyone else is just jealous! The rest of Europe is wrong! He tells us it's spend, spend, spend time.
Meanwhile, boss Bertie is preparing to spend £1,000 million of "Government money" (ours) on a stadium that nobody wants.
The polls, of course, say they're bloody marvellous. All I can say is: remember '77. - Yours, etc.
