Madam, - From your edition of May 2nd I note that two families, both called Carthy, have been living at separate locations by the side of the road in Athy for over five years. They have no electricity, running water, refuse collection or toilet facilities. The families include seven children. Kildare County Council is developing a group housing scheme but does not expect it to be ready until 2007.
In an edition last week I read that the killers of Det Garda Jerry McCabe are being housed, not in a prison as most of us expected, but in a self-contained bungalow, presumably free of charge. - Yours, etc,
