Madam, - Travelling from Dublin to Kilkenny last weekend, I noticed a large number of vehicles with defective headlights and tail-lights. Among these was a van with no rear lights whatever and a car which travelled the entire length of the Naas dual-carriageway with only one tiny sidelight to light his path.
Given the darkening evenings, and the number of deaths fatalities on our roads, it would be timely for the Ministers for Transport and Health to come out with a joint statement on what exactly is the Government's policy on lighting up in public. - Yours, etc.,
