Madam, – It is Gay Mitchell (June 19th) and not John Robb (June 17th) who seems to have lost all regard for democratic institutions. In suggesting that it is unthinkable for Oireachtas members to leave things as they stand in relation to the Lisbon Treaty, thereby “blocking” it, Mr Mitchell ignores that the Irish people who elected these members have told them clearly, in a referendum, to block it. Surely nothing could be more undemocratic than ignoring the will of the people? – Yours, etc,
