Madam, - Judging by the many letters to The Irish Timesfrom people who intend to vote No in the coming referendum, there appears to be a large rump of the electorate who will not go along with the advice given by both the Government and all of the main Opposition parties.
Yet many of the naysayers are among those who voted all of the incumbent TDs into office. This poses the question: do they not trust the people they elected to act on their behalf, or are some people foolish enough to think that by voting No they will be punishing Fianna Fáil and the Government?
I think it is safe to say that many of those who intend to vote, one way or the other, will not even bother to read the treaty document, let alone study its implications.
Whose advice will they seek? - Yours, etc,
NIALL GINTY,
The Demesne,
Killester,
Dublin 5.
