Sir, - The recent flooding along the Dodder has left the banks littered with a vast amount of plastics and debris. One might think that the various authorities through whose areas the Dodder flows had decided to solve their waste problems by consigning it to the Dodder to be washed into Dublin Bay. Numerous calls to me show that Southsiders who have enjoyed the wonderful linear parks created along the River Dodder now feel they walk along the longest tip in Ireland.
It is obvious to me the problem is far too much for the unfortunate litter wardens who are left by the county managers to carry the can, if you pardon the pun. The Dodder Anglers' Club will be seeking a meeting with the various Departments responsible for the environment to see what steps can be taken. I ask all friends of the Dodder to support our call. - Yours, etc.,
Redmond O'Hanlon
