Sir, – The words Frances O’Donoghue penned to explain her medical condition were awe- inspiring (January 18th). They should give hope and inspiration to many who may be suffering from debilitating illnesses.
In these troubled times, it was most reassuring to read such a letter which oozed kindness, sensitivity and encouragement. Ms O’Donoghue does lament not being able to drive her beloved car any more. But she shouldn’t.
Taking to the roads in your own vehicle is not what it used to be. True, having your own car does offer independence, safety, reliability and convenience, but our overcrowded road network now makes driving a hazardous pastime which can bring about its own level of stress. – Yours, etc,
