Madam, - In my column of May 28th I wrote that after the Tullymander that rebounded on the National Coalition in 1977, "a sense of fairness prevailed. In 1979 Jack Lynch initiated a process under which after each Census an Independent Commission would recommend a constituency distribution".
In his article of June 4th, replacing my column as I was lecturing in Canada, Martin O'Donoghue suppressed the latter sentence and then accused me of being "far too disingenuous to let go uncorrected", because of an alleged failure to give credit to Jack Lynch for this major contribution to Irish democracy.
"Disingenuous" is, I think, the appropriate term for his suppression of my unambiguous tribute to the former Taoiseach. - Yours, etc,
Dr GARRET FITZGERALD, Ranelagh, Dublin 6.
