Sir, - I find a certain contradiction and irony in Dr Patrick Finn's letter (August 21st) calling for the introduction of capital punishment for terrorists and membership of terrorist organisations. He argues that such action will not create martyrs.
In 1916, when the government executed Patrick Pearse and his fellow terrorists for their actions, they created the very martyr whose picture now hangs on Dr Finn's wall. - Yours, etc., F. Lynch,
